What to try when you visit
- Start with what you want your chair to do. Bring a shortlist or screenshots if you have favourites, and someone to help you compare if you would like.
- Sit in more than one size with your usual footwear. Take time to notice the seat, back and arm support.
- Try the controls yourself. Ask to see the reclining movement and, on a riser chair, the lift action.
- Before deciding, talk through the exact chair’s condition, price, warranty and delivery. Bring room and doorway measurements so you can discuss the space it needs.

Recognise the way when you arrive
From the High Street, enter York Road on foot beside the Hare & Hounds and look for number 19. Kings Heath Pet Centre is further along the same road at number 43 — we’re closer to the High Street.
From the High Street
- Look for the Hare & Hounds at the York Road junction.
- Continue along York Road on foot. Planters and barriers restrict vehicle access.
- Find our showroom at number 19, before Kings Heath Pet Centre at number 43.

Before you choose
A good fit for you and your home
Take your time trying the chair and its controls. You’re welcome to bring someone along for a second opinion.
Does the seat feel right?
Try the chair with your usual footwear. Notice whether your feet feel supported, the seat edge feels comfortable behind your knees, and the back and arms support you without reaching or straining. Size labels alone cannot tell you this.
Are the controls easy to use?
Try the handset yourself. Check you can see the buttons, reach the controls and adjust the back and footrest comfortably. Ask to see the rise function if you need help standing, and discuss what happens during a power cut.
Will it fit your room and the way in?
Bring the width of your narrowest doorway and a note of steps or tight turns. Leave room for the footrest and back to move. The upright depth shown online is not the fully reclined length; ask for the clearance of the exact chair.
What’s included with your chair?
Ask about the chair’s current condition, maximum user weight, warranty and aftercare. Confirm the total price, delivery charge and whether setup, packaging removal or old-chair removal can be arranged. These depend on the chair and your address.
If you have specialist seating or pressure-care needs, ask your occupational therapist or clinician what to look for before choosing.
