Riser recliner delivery and installation: what happens on the day

Delivery · 4 minute read

Prepared and checked by Comfort & Recline showroom team.

The short answer

A careful delivery includes access checks before the visit, room-of-choice placement, safe positioning, a complete action test and a clear demonstration. Ask in advance about timing, stairs, packaging and old-chair removal. Delivery arrangements should be confirmed for the exact chair and address.

Who this guide helps

For chair users and relatives preparing the home, delivery route and first-day setup.

Before delivery day

A good delivery starts before the van arrives. The retailer should have confirmed the chair’s boxed dimensions against your doorways, agreed a delivery window, and asked about turns, stairs, parking and floor surfaces.

Photographs of tight access are worth sending in advance.

Clear the route: hallways of loose rugs, doorways of obstacles, and the chair’s final position of everything that could catch a moving footrest.

On the day

Riser recliners are heavy, awkward items, and reputable deliveries use two people.

The chair travels boxed or wrapped, is carried to the room of choice, unpacked there, and plugged in rather than assembled; most electric recliners need no tools.

Expect the crew to position the chair, allow clearance for the action, and level it if the floor is uneven. A quality installation finishes with a full demonstration, not a signature.

  • Two-person delivery to the room of choice
  • Unpacking and positioning with action clearance
  • Plug-in setup, no tools for most models
  • Full demonstration of every movement

The demonstration matters

Ask the installer to run every movement and hand the controls over while they watch.

First-time users often have reasonable questions that are easier to answer in front of the chair: what the reset does, how fast the rise feels, where the chair stops.

If the user was not present for delivery, arrange a phone or video walkthrough with the showroom so nothing is guessed at.

Packaging and old chairs

Confirm before the visit whether packaging is removed, and whether an old chair needs taking away; both are easier to arrange in advance than after the van leaves. Recycling arrangements differ between retailers, so ask rather than assume.

Our approach

Comfort & Recline discusses delivery and installation around the confirmed chair and your address, including access checks before an order is agreed. Nothing is promised that has not been checked against the route.

Your showroom checklist

  • Confirm access, parking, steps and tight turns
  • Clear rugs and obstacles from the route
  • Agree the room and final chair position
  • Watch every movement being tested
  • Let the main user try the handset
  • Confirm packaging and old-chair arrangements
